The first Kopek coins were minted at Pskov and Novgorod from around 1534 continuing and displayed a horseman with a spear. In the 1540s and beyond, that horseman started bearing a crown. This change was probably made with the intention to represent Ivan 'The Terrible', the Grand Prince of all Russia of that time until 1547, and Tsar thereafter. However, in the 18th Century, it was replaced with the figure of St. George 'striking down a serpent' on the subsequent productions of the coin.

Item Code - CUR1E291FDZ10B3

Width: 1 1/8" Height: 1 1/8" Weight: 10 g

Liberty Head Large Cent 1836.

The 1836 Liberty Head Large Cent is one of those coins that collectors cannot simply shy away from. Fought over Chilean claims on coastal Bolivian territory in the Atacama Desert, the war ended with a Chilean victory, which gained the country a significant amount of resource-rich territory from Peru and Bolivia. The war began over a nitrate taxation dispute between Bolivia and Chile, with Peru being drawn in due to its secret alliance with Bolivia. But historians have pointed to deeper origins of the war, such as the interest of Chile and Peru in the nitrate business, the long-standing rivalry between Chile and Peru, as well as political and economic disparities between Chile, Peru, and Bolivia. On February 14, 1879, Chile's armed forces occupied the Bolivian port city of Antofagasta, subsequently war between Bolivia and Chile was declared on March 1, 1879, and between Chile and Peru on April 5, 1879. During the first five months, the war played out in a naval campaign, as Chile struggled to establish a marine resupply corridor for its forces in the world's driest desert. Afterward, Chile's land campaign overcame the Bolivian and Peruvian armies. Bolivia withdrew after the Battle of Tacna, on May 26, 1880. Chilean forces occupied Peru's capital Lima in January 1881. Remnants and irregulars of the Peruvian army waged a guerrilla war but could not prevent war-weary Peruvian factions from reaching a peace deal with Chile involving territorial cessions.

Item Code - CUR1E233FDZ9C7

Width: 1 3/8" Height: 1 3/8" Weight: 3 g

Shield Nickel 1867 Copper and Nickel.

The Shield Nickel, which took its name from the motif on its obverse side, was designed by James B. He encouraged reconciliation between father and son. This led to Walpole's inclusion in George I's administration, whereupon he lost the prince's favour. Only Caroline's intervention kept Walpole in office when the prince succeeded to the throne in 1727. He cemented his position by securing George a Civil List (allowance) from the parliament of £800,000, considerably more than previous monarchs had received. Walpole also won acknowledgement of George's legitimacy from many influential Tories who supported the exiled Stuart pretender to the English throne. As a result, no senior politician deserted George's cause during the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745.
