Head Vase, Porcelain, Hand Painted, Nippon, Mid-Century, Japan.

This is a lovely vintage head vase. It is the bust of a woman with a matte blonde updo, a black dress and stylish 50s era hat with brown ribbon. Her large black eyelashes are three dimensional and she has bright red lipstick. The bottom of the vase is marked in green script "Handpainted Nippon". Of course, head vases were never made during the Nippon era (1891 - 1921) so this is a later Asian import item with a fake "Nippon" mark. Head vases were popular decorative items in the mid-20th century and can be used for many purposes including pincushions, flower planters, pencil holders, etc. There are no visible chips or cracks. She is in great vintage condition and would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
