Candlestick Holder Made From a Boat Shuttle Taken From a Very Old Wooden Weaving Silk Loom, Comes with Base.

These antique wooden boat shuttles, once part and parcel of textile mill weaving looms from the 1800s into the 1900s, they have become collectible and make great additions to your country rustic, modern farmhouse or primitive industrial decor.

After a loom, the shuttle is probably the most used and loved tool a weaver uses. A boat shuttle like this one above gives the weaver a rhythmic and flowing weaving experience. They can be "thrown" gently through the warp, the yarn unwinding automatically from the bobbin inside.

Boat shuttles typically range in length from 11 to 13 inches.

Solid bottom shuttles like the one above glide across the warp easily and is ideally suited for those just starting to weave. Open bottom shuttles permit using a finger to stop the bobbin/quill.
